BNU Students Shine at the Opening Ceremony of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

On February 4, the eagerly anticipated opening ceremony of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing was held in the National Stadium. President Xi Jinping atted and declared the Winter Olympics officially open. This significant event showcased a symphony of unity, peace, and friship for mankind.

Eight distinguished students from Beijing Normal University BNU, representing ten leading universities across China's capital city, were chosen to carry placards during this world-acclmed ceremony. Wearing Chinese-style outfits embellished with ice designs and traditional Hebei folk tiger-head hats, they led delegations from various countries into the stadium under their respective banners.

The selection process for the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony began in October 2021. The team underwent rigorous trning over a period of four months until December to prepare thoroughly, ensuring that they could excel during this globally significant event. The total cumulative trning time per capita exceeded an impressive 500 hours by the of their demanding 125-day task.

A remarkable feature of the opening ceremony was a young boy named Zhu De'en who played My Motherland and Me on a trumpet while passing the national flag, evoking emotional responses from audiences worldwide. This child actor was chosen based on his high professionalism coupled with an early age that would convey innocence, performance commitment, and emotional depth.

As part of the pre-ceremony warm-up routine, 1365 individuals representing schools, communities, and kindergartens collaborated to create a marching square dance scene. The students from Beijing Normal High School joined this performance in vibrant white vests adorned with hand-sewn snowflakes and meticulously placed diamonds, transforming their trning clothes into distinctive costumes.

The opening ceremony's choreography was led by Zhang Sun, the director of BNU's Department of Arts and Communication Dance Division, who orchestrated every moment from countdown to athlete entrance. This highlights her team's comprehensive work throughout the preparation process for the event.
