A study comparing country dancing with activities such as walking and stretching revealed that dance imposes unique demands on both mind and body which make it especially potent at mitigating some mental changes associated with aging. The study found that dancers who practiced increasingly complex country-dance choreography formed fluid lines and squares, moving from one partner to another.
